Linky and the Brain: May 28, 2013 (shameless self-promotion edition)

It's been a busy week and I haven't been reading much on the web worth sharing, but I do want to direct you to an interview I did a couple of weeks ago with the great folks at Generation Anthropocene which was just posted today as part of their podcast series. I even got my own little ink-sketch, out of the bargain!

The GenAnthro podcast explores ways in which humanity's long obsession with controlling our environment (fire, clothing, agriculture, domestication of livestock, cities, landscaping, etc.), has finally become the essential reality of our age. In the Anthropocene, to a very real degree, our species runs the ecological show here on planet earth, and the podcast interviews lots of leading thinkers on the issues this raises for ourselves and for the planet.

I was really honored to contribute to their work, which I greatly admire. I don't claim to have offered much insight into the discussion of the "anthropocene", but I tried to paint an exciting but balanced picture of how we're doing at peering into the great mystery of our own brains, an area where we can't claim to have much control, as of yet... I hope I didn't mangle too many people's fields in my simplified descriptions of the current state of neuroscience, but if I did, please let me hear about it!
